Stephens Scown LLP is an award-winning firm of solicitors with a 4 story office in Southernhay, Exeter. They were very interested in making the business greener and saving some money, so they contacted SunGift looking for an energy saving solution. SunGift proposed the use of LEDs, and began work by conducting a free energy efficiency survey of their building.

After the initial survey, it was abundantly clear that the business was wasting money on their out-dated lighting. So, SunGift upgraded 335 fluorescent ceiling tiles to LED equivalents, reducing energy bills by 65%. As an added bonus, staff now have a brighter and clearer office environment to work in.

The improved lighting conditions in these offices may also improve the productivity of the firm’s staff, a phenomenon which has been studied in depth by the EU’s Lighting For People project.

On top of the reduced electricity bills and increased productivity, Stephens Scown know they are being an environmentally conscious company by saving 25 tonnes of carbon emissions every year.

Jamie Thornton said, “At Stephens Scown we are focused on keeping up-to-date with energy efficiency, we are already seeing significant financial savings and our offices are more clearly lit, so LED’s are a win-win!”

In recent years more and more businesses are seeing the benefits of LEDs and are making the transition from their old, inefficient, high-wattage bulbs.
