OK, it might cost more than 10 household solar PV systems, but if you have a spare £80,000, then you could purchase yourself a solar-powered bicycle.
Featuring just two solar panels – one in front and one behind the saddle – they charge the bike as its being ridden, which enables the bike to travel at 14mph without the need for a battery…or pedal power!
The owner and inventor, Albert Van Dalen, claims to have ridden more than 1,000 miles in the past three months without having to pedal once.
However, with such a high price tag (and looking so unsightly!) we doubt that we’ll be adding any of these bikes to the SunGift fleet for our staff to get around on.
