We’ve told you about solar-powered boats, planes and cars before, but now there’s a suggestion that solar powered buses could soon be on UK roads.  Announced by Birmingham City Council (to help reduce its carbon emissions by 60% by 2027), the new initiative could see the whole city’s transport network electrified, and a new fleet of battery-powered electric buses introduced.

The system would then have a network of solar-powered bus stops that would top-up the charge of the buses as they pull in to pick up passengers.              Despite the proposal only being part of a consultation document, the leader of Birmingham City Council, Albert Bore is determined to see it happen.
