We’ve got great news for SunGift domestic customers that are interested in biomass, solar thermal and heat pump solutions – government grants towards installations doubled at the end of May.

This now means that you can get £2,000 towards the cost of a biomass boiler installed by SunGift, £600 towards solar thermal, £1,300 towards an air source heat pump, and £2,300 towards a ground source heat pump.

The grants, known as Renewable Heat Premium Payments (RHPP) are part of a voucher scheme that has been extended due to the delay in the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive.  It also includes a competition for registered social landlords to bid for funds to install renewable heat technologies.

In order to qualify for the scheme, new applicants will be required to undertake a ‘Green Deal Assessment’ before submitting a claim for payment of their voucher, which is something that SunGift Energy can organise and carry out for customers

The government also reiterated the proposed timescales for the full domestic Renewable Heat Incentive, saying that they expect the scheme to be launched in summer 2014.
