It’s rewarding when you’re recognised by other professionals in your industry for the high quality of your work, so I was delighted to be rubbing shoulders with some of the UK’s other leading renewable energy companies last week when I attended the finals of the Solar Power Portal Awards.  Our 20 kW barn-roof solar thermal system at Sharps Farm clearly impressed the judges, as we came runner up to in Best Solar Thermal Installation of the Year to Viridian Solar’s extensive Becket’s Grove project.  We’ll be joining the best in the industry once again in the Green Energy Awards finals in November too, and we’ve just reached the final of the Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) Awards in two categories –but whatever the outcome, the high quality of all the entries shows how far forward the renewable energy industry has come in recent years.

Customers returning for more renewable energy systems

One thing that we (and the industry in general) probably didn’t expect at the start of our journey was that those with renewable energy systems would return to have more systems fitted.  It’s been reassuring recently to have many returning customers – both domestic and commercial – who’ve realised the benefits of renewable energy and come back for more!  From Darts Farm (who are looking to add another 70 kW to their solar PV resource) to domestic customers (who are looking at adding solar thermal, heat pumps, biomass, and more panels to their existing PV systems) – increasing numbers are finding that they want to make even more of the financial benefits and CO2 savings.
