Some of Devon’s top architects came together to discover the latest technology available in the renewable energy sector, as well as enjoy some local cider, courtesy of SunGift Energy.

We have recently moved to new premises in Huxham Barns, Exeter, and offered our dedicated meeting space as a venue for the regular Continuous Professional Development required for architects.

Firms including Living Space and Barc Architects were represented and had the opportunity to learn about the latest solar panel technology, including in-line panels and innovative ground-mounted panels specially designed with the UK seasons in mind.

SunGift Director Gabriel Wondrausch said: “It was a good opportunity for us to highlight the pros and cons of various systems and make sure that architects are aware of the shifting needs of consumers – soon many more people will need electric car-charging points in their home, for example.

“If we’re involved from the very early stages of design, everyone can get a result they’re happy with.”

Rob Hilton from Hilton Barnfield Architects organized the event. He said: “It’s helpful to hear updates about the technology and what’s available, and to be able to ask questions of the people who are knowledgeable about these projects and the processes involved.

“It’s also a lovely setting – some of us cycled in – and it gave a chance to put faces to names.”

The group of architects were then able to spend time in the neighbouring orchard, sampling cider from Find & Foster, also based at Huxham Barns.
