It’s hard to believe its October already and autumn is here! We have plenty of autumn news and excitement for you.

Contractor of the Year

Last week we were the night’s big winners, taking home the Clean Energy Contractor of the Year award at the prestigious national Solar Power Portal Awards. We were chosen for this top accolade by a panel of expert judges. It’s great to have our high standards and diligence appreciated! You can see more on this story here.

In more good news, SunGift are finalists again in the Regen Green Energy Awards. I’m really proud to say that we have been finalists or winners at these respected awards for  8 years in a row. We’ll be up for an award along with some of our customers, including Exeter City Council, Exeter Community Energy (ecoe) and Plymouth Energy Community (PEC). Fingers crossed!

Energy storage

My Tesla batteries have been busy picking up some autumn rays. It’s such a good feeling to turn the kettle on after work and know that I’m using stored sunshine, rather than buying energy in.
In August, I only imported 6% of my energy, which is around £3.30’s worth! In September, I imported just 18%. So, most of my energy was generated by my solar panels and stored in the batteries.
If you’d like to find out more, our Energy Storage Open Day is Friday this week. Details are below. Hope you can come along and say hi!

Community projects

We’ve been pretty busy again. We’ve been working to tight deadlines in order to complete a number of community-owned solar projects. Our talented team have been putting in the hours to help get these projects over the line. It’s been great to help out community groups too.

Still a great investment

Solar is still a really good investment. Yes, Government subsidies have been reduced. But, the cost of solar components has fallen dramatically. This means that solar is still a very viable investment for businesses and homes. In fact, due to lower up-front costs, we are installing projects with the same financial returns as some projects installed in 2012.
This bodes really well for the industry.
And for businesses… We can now offer businesses even more, as we’re a Carbon Trust accredited supplier.

Refer a friend

When you make an investment, it’s important to choose an installation partner you can trust. A good way to choose is to get recommendations from friends and family. At SunGift, we work hard to offer a service that you’d be comfortable recommending. Over the years, much of our business has come from customer referrals and we’re really proud of that. SunGift have now teamed up with Hanlons Brewery to offer you goodies as a little thank you when you refer us to a friend.

All the best
Gabriel
