Grants of up to £10,000 available for businesses, charities and schools that install solar PV or LED lighting

Energy providers recently incurred large fines for failing to provide smart meters to their customers. The Carbon Trust is using some of this money to help businesses fund energy efficiency measures, through accredited installers like SunGift.

Grants are up to £10,000, 30% of the cost of the project or 30% of five times the system’s year one projected savings. The grant’s available for SME’s, charities and schools installing solar PV or LED lighting. We can help you work out whether you’re eligible.

There’s no catch, but the fund is limited and so the grant’s available on a first come, first served basis and it’s only available if your system is installed through an accredited supplier.

At the moment, we’re designing solar PV systems with returns on investment of 15-20%. We’re seeing LED lighting systems with payback periods of 2 – 4 years. When you factor the grant in, the figures look even better.
