As we come to the end of 2014, I’m tremendously excited by the opportunities that 2015 will bring for renewable energy.  Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated development for me will be the launch in January of SunGift’s first energy storage solution for homes and small businesses, which will enable you to use the electricity you generate from your solar panels whenever you wish. You can read more about this below.
One frustrating thing that I read this month was that ‘cold calls’ are the second most complained about issue when it comes to solar companies.  In fact, the latest YouGov research shows that – despite 50 per cent of homeowners being keen to put solar panels on roofs – 30 per cent are put off because they don’t trust solar salesman.  In 2015 I’d love to see the solar industry drive out these ‘cowboy’ tactics and help change perceptions, and I believe that we can all help by educating our families, friends and neighbours. YouGen is a great place to leave your comments and direct people towards.

You can also read about other interesting developments this month including the popularity of the new wave of ‘285’ panels; how one Exminster couple have transformed the way they use energy and are spending their Big Green Referral Scheme vouchers; five reasons why a bespoke system is essential; the problems with the latest solar bra, and much more.

My very best wishes for the festive season and 2015.
