Plymouth Solar Carport

Plymouth Marine Lab – Solar Carport

System Size solar_power 134 kWp   Annual CO2 Savings eco 65 Tonnes

“This solar carport is a first-of-its-kind in Plymouth and is an addition to the solar photovoltaic arrays on our main roof and lecture theatre. We anticipate that our systems combined will save over 77 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. We thank SunGift for installing these systems and completing the solar carport in two phases to minimise disruption to staff. This flexibility meant we could keep half of the car park open throughout the project, allowing key staff to get to site and maintain our science delivery.””.

World leader in marine research leaps toward Net Zero

Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) has a strong commitment to reduce its own environmental impact. Environmental responsibility is one of the four pillars of their 2020 – 2025 strategy, with the goal to achieve Net Zero carbon for PML activities by 2040 – 10 years earlier than the national target of 2050 – in line with the UKRI environmental sustainability strategy.
