It’s always good to be recognised for the high quality of the work you do, so we were delighted when we found out that we are in the national finals of the Solar Power Portal Awards.

Solar Power Portal is the number one

publication in the UK for all things solar, providing unbiased, high-quality news, so it’s an extremely positive endorsement for us to be recognised by them.

“This is excellent news,” said Gabriel Wondrausch. “It’s the first year that Solar Power Portal has held these awards, so to be picked out as among the best in the UK is an exceptional achievement.”

SunGift has been shortlisted for a bespoke 20 kWp solar thermal (solar hot water) system that we installed at Sharps Farm near Taunton. The system, which heats the farm’s swimming pool, was designed using state-of-the-art software and includes an innovative canopy system and an intelligent 1,500 litre water tank with a stratified charging and priority control system.

This system was chosen by Solar Power Portal judges thanks to the innovation of the technical solution, the high-quality of the work carried out, and its integration with the other renewable energy systems at the farm.

The Sharps farm installation looks particularly outstanding as it uses a clever canopy system, which allowed us effectively to ‘add space’ to the roof (which was already filled with solar PV panels) and set the solar thermal panels at the optimum angle. In addition, it will qualify to receive more than £2,500 a year in energy savings and Renewable Heat Incentive payments.

SunGift now goes through to the national finals which take place on Tuesday 8 October at the Hilton NEC in Birmingham.

“It’s always rewarding when you are recognised by the industry that you work within,” added Gabriel Wondrausch, “as it reinforces that the work you are doing is of the highest quality. Or installation at Sharps Farm is just one of the hundreds of solutions we provide to customers who are looking for a renewable energy solution to suit their circumstances, but it’s unique attributes clearly caught the eye of the judges.”
