Solar PV: first choice for councils
It’s becoming an increasing part of our work to provide renewable energy solutions for local authorities who are looking to reduce their carbon emissions, lower their reliance on fossil fuels and dramatically reduce their energy bills.
This month we’re completing nearly 200 kWp of solar PV installed on four of Exeter City Council’s buildings and we’re delighted to announce that we recently won the contract to install 119 kWp of solar PV for Teignbridge District Council. It’s particularly satisfying as we were up against about 30 other local and national installers bidding for the work.
We’ve just finished a 69 kWp system at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre for Teignbridge District Council and – following the necessary planning approval – we’ll be starting work on a 50 kWp system on the roof of Dawlish Leisure Centre…just in time to make the most of those spring and summer rays that we hope to be seeing soon!
“Renewable energy is one of the best ways for a council to meet carbon reduction targets and save valuable taxpayers money,” said SunGift business development manager Gareth Walton. “By generating an income from the Feed-in Tariff and providing savings on the Councils’ energy bills these installations will pay for themselves very quickly and then make a profit for the Councils meaning they have more money to spend on delivering services for their residents.”
