In July we held our first ever commercial biomass event – at the National Trust’s Burrow Farm in Broadclyst near Exeter, where we have installed a 40 kW dual log and pellet biomass boiler.  Tenants Neil and Sally Grigg provided an exceptional barbecue, using high-quality meat from their award-winning ‘ruby red’ cattle.

It was the first of many events that we hope to hold to demonstrate both the practicalities and benefits to those thinking of getting renewables systems installed.

Attendees – who on this occasion were mainly farmers, landowners, and those from the leisure and hospitality industries– got the chance to see just how impressive a biomass solution is.

“The evening was a real eye-opener for many of those that came along,” said SunGift system designer Mark Howard,” who was one of our experts who attended the event.   “They got the chance to see how financially attractive a biomass installation is, allowing them to reduce their fuel bills, lower their reliance on fossil fuels, and generate an additional income stream from the Renewable Heat Incentive.”

The event included presentations from Mark, Gabriel Wondrausch, and Jamie Burnham.  They discussed the general and technical aspects of biomass, held a detailed a question and answer session, then ran a tour of the boiler (which uses either pellets or logs as its fuel source).  Attendees then had the chance to chat with Neil and Sally about their experience of using the boiler and how it has made a huge difference to the heating system in their house (see full case study here http://goo.gl/LoycBa).

SunGift is looking to hold similar events in the future, so if you are interested in attending please email Gary Cook (gary@sungiftsolar.co.uk) or call him on 01392 213912.
