The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) have today announced an increase in the amount of money available to householders under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme (RHPP).  There is now a total of £2,300 available for ground source heat pump installations, £2,000 for biomass boilers, £1,300 for air source heat pumps and £600 for solar thermal systems.

As part of these changes DECC have introduced a requirement for householders to have a Green Deal Assessment.  The additional funds now available are intended to cover the cost of this assessment, which aims to encourage householders to think about how renewable heat could help them be more energy efficient.

These changes will take effect from today onwards, and will apply until the RHPP scheme expires in March 2014.  Under the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI), systems which are eligible for the RHPP will also be eligible for the renewable heating tariff scheme, due to start in summer 2014.  For more details on this announcement, please click here.
