Solar PV
Solar panels can also be used for generating electricity. These are called Solar Photovoltaic panels, or Solar ‘PV’ panels. The PV panels are connected to the national grid so that when the panels are producing electricity and you are not using it, the electricity is fed back into the grid. You are paid a premium for this excess energy.

The photovoltaic systems we install include the British manufactured Sharp Monocrystalline Photovoltaic panels.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
A: Prices for photovoltaic systems vary depending on the size of the system to be installed and the type of photovoltaic solar panel being used. Essentially, the size of the system is dictated by the amount of space available for the panels and how much you want to spend. Solar PV systems cost on average £4,000 - £5,000 per kwp and you will need approximately 8m² of panel area per kwp. Most domestic systems are 1.5kwp – 5kwp systems.
Q: CAN I SELL THE ELECTRICITY I PRODUCE?
A: Many different tariffs are available from different suppliers. These are constantly changing. Please call 01392 213 912 for more details and our recommendations. You will be paid a premium for the renewable energy you you generate – even if you use it! Please see our Feed-in Tariff page for tariff rates and details of this scheme.
In April 2010 the government will be introducing a feed-in tariff, which will guarantee the amount you will be paid for the renewable energy you generate. At present it looks like this will be 36.5p or more per kWh. This is roughly three times the current cost of electricity. Please see our News section or more information
